The last week has mostly been about sheering the sheep. Hundreds of them have had their annual 'haircut' and they all look much happier now out in the fields minus their big thick wooly coat. Especially when the sun is shining!
The bluebells are all 'flowered out' down in the woods, and now it's the turn for the summer flowers to come out in force. So far we've got Sweet Williams, Stocks (the scent of the first stocks and sweet peas in the garden and cutting patches puts a smile on my face every summer,) and good old Pinks are in flower. Not forgetting the glamourous and dramatic Peonies too. Short lived though Peonies are, I find a few stems in a vase will give a lovely scent to any room of the house. A bunch of Pinks will last much longer and the sweet almost peppery scent will fill a room for quite some time.
So, this week we'll be busy weeding and tending on the flower plot: nettles and 'fat hen' seem to be trying to invade again. THe Farmer will be busy seeing to his crops, his ladys (the cows and their calves) and as per usual the sheep: that and nursing the hangover from spending all weekend on a stag do!
Anyway, back to the never endind task of weeding...
