Sat here with the rain beating against the window and leaves starting to fall from the trees I'm starting to miss our somewhat rainy summer. At least the first of the Chrysanthemums have started to flower on the cutting patch to cheer us up. The spicy woody smell signifies to me that winter and Christmas are just around the corner.
In the next couple of weeks all of the Chrysanthemums should be in flower and ready for us to send out in our bouquets and 'bloom boxes.' Along with our other Autumn flowers. Fingers crossed all the staking we've done in the last few days will stop our flowers from being bashed about too much by the wind.
Inbetween the rain showers we've been busy on the plot clearing away the remains of the summer flowering annuals such as Calendula, Godetia and the like to make way from spring flowering bulbs. This autumn we will be planting plenty of Alliums and Anenomes - both of which seem to like the Welsh weather and our soil!
Don't forget to check out our new and improved website at www.breconblooms.com Our online shop will be up and running very soon with plenty of flower and gift ideas for Christmas and to brighten up the darker days of autumn and winter.
