Ok so maybe not the whole day, but preparing the site for the new polytunnel is taking some doing! The torrential rain we have had over the last 5 days or so hasn't helped. If any of you have seen footage of the Ryder Cup then ypu'll know how much rain we've had in Wales. The ground is sodden and we're soaked to the bone but the site is coming along nicely. Soon it will be ready for the construction to start!
Most of our spring bulbs are now planted and we've just started working on our indoor planters which should be in bloom in time for Christmas. If you would like to have a gorgeous basket of scented Hyacinths or Narcissi in your home for Christmas, or they would make a lovely gift for someone, then please check our website for delivery dates etc.
For the gardeners amongst you, jobs to do on the flower patch this week include:
- Lift and divide any congested perrenials
- Lift Dahlia tubers and store them over winter. If you live in a milder part of the country then you may be able to cover your Dahlias in a thick mulch of straw to protect them from the winter frosts
- Sow Sweat Peas for even bigger and better blooms for next year
- Continue to collect and save seed
Keep 'bloomin'
